10º Encuentro Linux – Valparaíso, Chile

The 22nd, 23rd and 24th of October took place the 10th edition of Encuentro Linux, in the city of Valparaíso, Chile, and we were invited to talk about Licuadora Studio and Blender.

The main event took place at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María, with a total of 70 speakers from different parts of Latin America, and themes that covered all the areas regarding free software.

The first talk on Thursday, titled Audiovisual Open Source Studio, was about our experience setting up an open source based studio and how to make it work.

On Friday was the Distributed Day, where the main event was divided through five organizing universities: UTFSM, PUCV, DuocUC, UV y UPLA, each one focused on a different subject (Science and Technology, Open Source and Business, Blender Conference, Networks and Communication, Education and Open Source).

The first Chilean Blender Conference took place at DuocUUC, with an attendance of about 200 people. Ivan Hoffmann talked about Compositin in Blender.

On Saturday, on paralel with Encuentro Linux, took place the Gnome Day, with lots of talks about one of the most used desktop environment.

The closure of the event took place at the Auditorium of the UTFSM, where there were a series of very interesting Lightning Talks and the complete staff was introduced.

It was a very enriching event, where we were able to connect with developers and artists from all Latin America.
